December 7, 2022 - Today we chose to have a fun adventure seeing the Cabazon Dinosaurs. The Cabazon Dinosaurs, formerly Claude Bell's Dinosaurs, is a roadside attraction in Cabazon, CA, featuring two enormous, steel and concrete dinosaurs named Dinny the Dinosaur and Mr. Rex. The 150 foot long Brontosaurus and the 65 foot tall Tyrannosaurus Rex are visible from the freeway to travelers passing by on Southern California's Interstate 10. The roadside dinosaurs are best known for their appearance in the film "Pee-wee's Big Adventure."
Inside the enclosure, concrete walkways lead you around all of the exhibits and each dinosaur is labeled for identification.
The highlight of the tour is to climb into the mouth of Mr. Rex. Here's Judy standing between its legs.
Going up inside its neck is done via a spiral staircase.
And this is what it looks like looking out between its teeth.
It's campy and is fun to see. It reminded me of another roadside attraction from the same era, the Wigwam Motel.
After the dinosaurs, we stopped for lunch at The Fat Greek in Yucaipa.
Judy had their "Chicken Pita Sandwich" with chicken, tomatoes, onions, and fresh tzatziki wrapped in their artisan pita bread.
I had their "small" Greek salad with extra feta cheese, toasted pita bread and tzatziki sauce.
