July 17, 2024 - Wednesday - We were back in Los Angeles today to see the latest exhibit at the Chinese American Museum. "Unmasking Anna May Wong" honors Chinese American actress and legend, Anna May Wong. The exhibition pays tribute to the trailblazer and icon who challenged conventions, against all odds, and paved the way for greater diversity and representation of Chinese Americans.
Moongate was Anna May's house in Santa Monica.
Anna May co-starred with Marlene Dietrich in "Shanghai Express."
Before the museum, we had lunch at Philippe's. Philippe’s has been located in Los Angeles, CA since 1908 and at its current location on Alameda since 1951.
We both had their beef French dipped sandwiches wet (extra au jus sauce) with potato salad for Judy and a pickled egg for me. Our lemonades were great, as was the custard pudding.
