On Presidents' Day, February 21, 2011, we visited the 65th Annual Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival held in Indio, CA. It's a ten day affair, running from February 18th through February 27th. The fair originally started to celebrate the end of the Coachella Valley's Date Harvest, but now the fair has spread to over 120 acres with 7,000 exhibitors including rides, food and camel racing! Over 300,000 people are expected to come through the gates in 2011.
There was a grand parade today to celebrate Presidents' Day.
Some of the camels were in the parade.
The grounds are only used once a year and are immaculate.
We first enjoyed some ostrich racing.
Then some zebras.
And finally the camels.
In addition to all of the barnyard animals exhibited for the County competition, there were also petting zoos and two of the cutest baby goats caught our attention.
There was so much food available here.
The setting was beautiful with the San Jacinto Mountain overlooking everything.
There was plenty to do for all of the families in attendance.
And it was all about the kids having a great time.
