June 12, 2019 - Wednesday - After a long, cool spring, we're now in the middle of a heat wave. It's going to be at least 100° here every day for the next week. So, what better way is there to beat the heat? Go to the beach! And today we went to Heisler Park in Laguna Beach, CA. Stretching along the ocean bluffs on Cliff Drive, this 18.5 acre oceanfront park has walking trails, gardens, a marine refuge with tide pools, picnic tables, barbecues and lawn bowling greens. Local real estate developer Howard G. Heisler deeded the park land to the county in 1924 and it was later dedicated to his deceased wife, Lucinda Jane Heisler, in 1932.
The lawn bowling club was very active today.
Most of the benches in the park are best described as works of art.
There were painters everywhere.
It was cool, relaxing and very beautiful here.
Since we were in Laguna Beach, we had to stop for lunch at Slapfish, our favorite place for lobster rolls, which were delicious.
