May 9, 2017 - My sister Nancy is visiting us, so we decided to show her the city of Orange and the Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University. The museum's collection focuses on the “California Scene” painting movement of roughly the 1920s through the 1970s and it is a significant repository of 20th-century representational art by California artists. Currently there are three new exhibits: "Golden Dreams: The Immigrant Vision of California," "Out of the West" and "Disney Production Art." Their collection is outstanding. For lunch we had gone to Watson's Soda Fountain & Cafe in downtown Orange. I had their chili and a side dish of deviled eggs topped with bacon & onion crisps. Judy chose their "Paper Boy Melt," which is turkey breast, bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado and ranch dressing on a grilled sourdough bun. Nancy loved her "I Love Lucy" burger with a juicy veggie burger topped with creamy Mac & Cheese, and her side dish was grilled asparagus. Everyone left very satisfied. It was a great adventure! |
