April 24, 2024 - Wednesday - Today we drove over to the coast to visit the Laguna Art Museum.
The first exhibit we saw is called "Modern Alchemy: The Fusion of Art and Nature in the Jewelry Designs of Adam Neeley." Neeley has developed a technique that he calls Spectra Gold, which seamlessly changes one color of gold into another. The exhibit is stunning, however, no photography was allowed. The pictures below are mainly taken of note cards in the gift shop to give you an idea of what we saw.
The second exhibit allowed photography and is called "On the Edge: Los Angeles Art from the Joan and Jack Quinn Family Collection."
We know this woman shown below, she's a singer who performs at the Malki Museum events on the reservation.
While it was disappointing that I couldn't take pictures of the jewelry exhibit, at least we were in Laguna Beach on a beautiful, clear day. There's nothing to complain about.
After the museum, we stopped by the Zinc Cafe for lunch.
Judy had their "Grilled Cheese' with Gruyère, cornichons, tomato, onion, dijonaise, on toasted sourdough. Her side was their delicious "Black Bean Chili" with Rancho Gordo heirloom black beans, bell peppers, tomatoes, green onion, and sour cream.
My two dishes were specials of the day, so I don't have all of the ingredients. The soup is called "Garden Pea Soup" and the main dish is "Mushroom Asparagus Quiche with Goat Cheese."
Everything was delicious and I soon forgot about the "no photography" jewelry exhibit. |
