September 20, 2018 - Today we had a short adventure that we could walk to, visiting the Lincoln Memorial Shrine in downtown Redlands. Located behind the Smiley Library, the 1932 Shrine is the only memorial honoring the "Great Emancipator", the sixteenth president, west of the Mississippi River. The purpose of our visit today was to see the new “Reflections of the Face of Lincoln” exhibit. Garner Holt Productions, Inc. (GHP) created an immersive presentation featuring special effects, multi-media elements, and animatronics in a moving portrait of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War era. The star of the show is an animatronic bust of Abraham Lincoln based on GHP’s “Living Faces of History” series of animated personalities. It's a short 15 minute show that is well choreographed. Follow this link to see a YouTube video of a portion of the show (it starts at 2:05). |
