November 6, 2020 - Friday - Judy has been a good sport putting up with our hiking adventures in the dusty desert, so today's adventure was more to her liking. We headed over to the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, CA for some much needed excitement. The Morongo Reservation is located in Riverside County in the San Gorgonio Pass. Established as the Portrero Reservation by executive order in 1876 under President Ulysses S. Grant, and called Malki by the Native Americans, the Morongo name was adopted by 1908 when the land was patented to the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. The Morongo Band of Mission Indians are comprised mainly by the Cahuilla and Serrano tribes. Tribal members also include Cupeño, Luiseño, and Chemehuevi Indians.
We peeked in before entering and they had made a lot of changes so that it was Covid-19 safe. It wasn't crowded at all so we had very little contact with other patrons.
Here are some of their prizes for the big slot competitions.
I didn't gamble very much, but Judy got to have some fun.
She had a nice jackpot on the last machine she played.
It was early so our only eating option was at their Good Times Cafe. Our breakfasts were good but, they were pretty much standard fare.
