April 5, 2025 - Saturday - Today we were in Anaheim, CA to the see the latest exhibit at the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center. “Painted for the Pictures” celebrates the vibrant artistry behind some of cinema’s most iconic visuals, tracing the evolution of film posters from the early years of the silent film era to the end of artist-driven poster art in the 1980s.
Everything on display is from the collection of one individual, Dr. Mark Miller. If you're older than 60 years, you'll probably recognize almost everything; the stars, the titles, directors and the studios that made the films. Some are in different languages than English, but you'll figure it out.
It seems to go on forever.
There is a small exhibit of some of the original caricatures from the Hollywood Brown Derby Restaurant.
There is a video taken at the restaurant when it was open.
Rosalind Russell
Roy Rogers
It's a very special exhibit. One of the museum staff told me that Dr. Miller intends to sell his entire collection after this exhibit closes, and there's many more posters at his home. Before the museum, we had lunch at the wonderful Ruby's Diner here in Anaheim.
We both had bacon cheeseburgers and Judy had onion rings with hers.
I stuck with French fries, and we both finished everything.
