December 11, 2021 - Saturday - Today we were back in Ontario, CA again to see the last exhibit of the year at the Ontario Museum of History & Art called "Her Side of the Story: Tales of California Pioneer Women." In 1900, The Association of Pioneer Women of California formed and collected the reminiscences of women who arrived in California before 1854 in a single ledger. This incredible document, filled with over 800 handwritten stories of California pioneer women and in the collection of The Society of California Pioneers, is the basis for this exhibition.
Note: The photographs of the letters will be best viewed on a large screen, not a smart phone, and they're worth reading.
This is a fancy sewing kit.
These are some sieves used to collect gold dust.
These women were truly courageous pioneers.
Before the museum we had lunch at Cannataro's Restaurant in nearby Chino, CA.
I had my favorite dish here, linguini with clam sauce.
Judy had her favorite at this restaurant, Baked Manicotti Florentine.
It was a wonderful adventure. |
