March 30, 2018 - We haven't been to the Palm Springs Art Museum lately, so we headed down there today. We're on their mailing list, so we always hear about their new exhibitions, but we don't always take the time to see them. However, it was a very lucky occurrence that we decided to go today. Their latest exhibit is called "Andy Warhol: Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation." Also, in conjunction with the Warhol exhibit, is "Michael Childers: Having a Ball." During the 1970s, Childers was a photographer for Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine, giving him access to the artist and his famous New York studio, The Factory. There are over 250 works by Warhol on display and about one hundred photographs taken by Childers. Most of Warhol's works are larger than life. The exhibition is simply overwhelming! These sketches were for ads placed by the I. Magnin department store. This Childers photo is of Andy in The Factory. This is Keith Haring, a pop artist famous in the 1980s. It's all about Mick, of course. We all loved you Andy, thanks. We ate breakfast at Keedy's Fountain & Grill a couple of weeks ago, so we came back to try their hamburgers today. We really enjoy the atmosphere at Keedy's and the food keeps us coming back. Today it was cheeseburgers, fries and a chocolate shake, what's not to like? |
