April 12, 2025 - Saturday - Today we were in Pomona, CA to visit the RailGiants Train Museum. It is located within the Pomona Fairplex where the Los Angeles County Fair is held every May. The RailGiants Train Museum is a railroad museum of historic trains. It is owned and maintained by the Southern California Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society.
The depot from Arcadia, CA was originally built in 1887.
This was a new one on us, a railcar designed to transport horses.
The X9000 never ran in California since it was fueled by coal, with a screw driven feeder. It went through 22 tons of coal in two hours.
It is a very interesting place for us old folks.
After the museum, we drove over to the VITA Italian Bar & Grill for lunch.
Judy had their Carbonara with bucatini pasta, pancetta, egg and black pepper sauce.
I had their Pappardelle Bolognese with pappardelle pasta, home made Bolognese sauce and pecorino cheese.
The food was wonderful and so was this adventure.
