March 27, 2025 - Thursday - Today we were in Claremont, CA to visit the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery, on the campus of Scripps College. Their current exhibit is called the "Scripps College 80th Ceramic Annual," that is the longest continuous exhibition of contemporary ceramics in the United States. This year it features the Fred Marer and Forrest L. Merrill collections which document a shift from vessels to sculptural forms and demonstrate key moments in West Coast ceramics.
The one below is called "Origami."
This one is called "Chocolate Cake for Beato."
This one is stoneware although it looked like leather to us.
This is a ceramic fireplace enclosure with Austrian fairy tale figures.
We were blown away and we'll be checking for future exhibitions. We loved it! Before the gallery we had lunch at The Hat in Upland,
Judy had their BBQ Roast Beef sandwich that is delicious.
I had my usual pastrami with pickles and mustard. I was sad when I had my last bite.
