January 25, 2023 - Wednesday - Today's adventure was all about food, Italian food, and everything took place in the city of Upland, CA. Our first stop was going to be at Claro's, an old fashioned Italian market with all high quality Italian ingredients, but, we found out that it's closed on Wednesdays. So, we headed to our second market, the Padua Pasta Makers store. It's an Italian deli that was recommended to us by our friend Conni.
They make fresh pasta every day.
We bought some fresh trumpet pasta for tomorrow, it's the third from the right.
Then we bought a half dozen cookies, ricotta, chocolate cherry and almond.
From the deli section, we got a caprese salad and pesto-cheese raviolis.
It's a great place, however, you have to be sure not to overbuy.
After we stocked up at the Padua Pasta Makers, it was time for lunch at another Upland Italian favorite, Allegro.
We split a fried calamari for an appetizer and we were surprised at how big it was.
Judy had their linguini Carbonara, which portion was too large for her.
I went for their linguini with clam sauce, which was also a large portion.
The food was very good, but we decided it was too rich for us, too much butter and cream. Plus we really didn't need the appetizer. |
