January 24, 2018 - Today's adventure brought us to Pasadena to see the USC Pacific Asia Museum. It had been closed for over a year due to seismic retrofitting but reopened in December 2017. The museum celebrates the arts and culture of Asia and the Pacific Islands. The museum was founded in 1971 by the Pacificulture Foundation, which purchased “The Grace Nicholson Treasure House of Oriental Art” from the City of Pasadena. The building was built in 1924 and it is designed in the style of a Chinese imperial palace and features a central courtyard with a garden, a small pool, and decorative carvings. The courtyard is very peaceful. Before the museum we were looking for some comfort food since we're both recovering from the flu. What better place than our old favorite in Pasadena, Lucky Baldwin's Pub. Their fish and chips can't be beat and even with our poor appetites, we finished it all! It was great to be adventuring again. |
