July 22, 2017 - Today's adventure was a trip down memory lane for Judy since our destination was the Valley Relics Museum in Chatsworth, CA. The mission statement of the museum states: "Our endeavor is to collect, preserve, interpret, and present the history of The San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas in order to share with residents and visitors alike the stories of those who shaped the region and its role in the nation's development." Judy grew up in Northridge, CA, right next door to Chatsworth, so most things we saw had a special meaning for her. How about these prices at Jack in the Box? "Speedee" was created by the McDonald brothers, long before Ray Kroc came along. Judy next to Bob's Big Boy, what a surprise! Robert Redford plugging Ranch Breakfast cereal? That was a new one on us. What a great place this museum is. After the museum we decided to let the nostalgia continue to flow so we had lunch at the Munch Box, also in Chatsworth. We both had their chili dogs with mustard and onions and we split one order of fries. And we each had an old fashion root beer float, with root beer and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. We couldn't remember the last time we had one of those. It was a great adventure in the valley! |
