September 14, 2022 - Wednesday - Today we were in Whittier, CA to visit the campus of Whittier College. Whittier College is a private liberal arts college, founded in 1887, that was named for the Quaker abolitionist and poet John Greenleaf Whittier. However, the college has not maintained any formal affiliation with the Religious Society of Friends since the 1940s. Its most famous alumnus was Richard M. Nixon.
This is Deihl Hall, built in 1918.
There are many places to sit around campus.
This is Wardman Hall, overlooking the upper and lower campus.
This is the Stauffer Science Center, modern both inside and out.
It's a beautiful campus where you can enjoy just walking around it.
Today is Judy's birthday so we decided to go to a real splurge restaurant to celebrate, the famous Dal Rae in Pico Rivera, CA.
We both ordered the "Dal Rae Famous Pepper Steak," which is a large filet mignon with bacon, green onion, and a peppercorn mixture. It is LA Magazine’s "Top 100 Tastes of LA." There were garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side. The filet mignon was absolutely perfect!
Dawn, our server, treated us to a little birthday cake.
Judy was very happy with her birthday adventure. |
