October 2, 2024 - Wednesday - Today we were back in Rancho Cucamonga to see the latest exhibit at the Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art. This exhibit is called "Reading Room: Zines, Comix & Other Radical Texts." It promises "a loud and proud exhibition that celebrates the contemporary relevance and impact of zines and comics on culture today, on the visual and literary arts in general, and how it impacts the Inland Empire region of Southern California."
At first glance, you realize that an entire industry exists for self-publishing. There are hundreds of zines and comix on display.
After a while we both realized that a whole other world exists, with many people with far flung perceptions about this world.
The exhibit is very thought provoking, realizing all of these different perspectives of reality. It was difficult to leave since we both wanted to make sure that we saw everything on display.
We tried a new Japanese restaurant after the museum called Ozen.
It's so clean inside it looks like it just opened, but it's been here for three years.
I had their soft shell crab, which was fantastic.
Judy had their shrimp tempura, which was outstanding.
We both had side orders of sautéed asparagus, again, an outstanding dish.
We've had a hard time finding a restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga that we really enjoyed. Finally, we've found Ozen. |
